John Mulaney and Olivia Munn are expecting are their first child together. After rumours suggested Munn’s pregnancy, the comedian during his recent appearance on a talk show, not only confirmed his relationship with Munn but also revealed that they are having their first baby together. Mulaney and Munn began dating in spring after his separation.
It’s been an eventful year for comedian John Mulaney, and he hasn’t been shy about sharing the details. Now, he’s letting fans in even closer.
In an interview with late night host and longtime friend Seth Meyers, Mulaney revealed Tuesday that he and actress Olivia Munn are expecting a child.
“She held my hand through that hell, and we are having a baby, together,” Mulaney said, touching on his recent struggles with addiction, relapses, and rehab — all of which transpired over the last year — in addition to his divorce with now ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler.
“I’m gonna be a dad. We’re both really, really happy,” Mulaney said.
John Mulaney during his recent appearance on Seth Meyers’ talk show made some big revelations about his life including his first public statement about dating actress Olivia Munn and also confirming that the duo are expecting their first child together. While stating details about his personal life, Mulaney said, “I packed a lot into this… Is it September now? I went to rehab in September, I got out in October, I moved out of my home from my ex-wife. Then in the spring I went to Los Angeles and met and started to date a wonderful woman named Olivia.”
Mulaney said he and Munn started dating this past spring, following a “star-studded” intervention that Mulaney speaks candidly about in his ongoing stand-up tour “From Scratch,” which just wrapped up a sold-out 21-show run at the Wilbur Theatre. Meyers as well as other comics like Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, and Natasha Lyonne were reportedly in attendance at the intervention.
“You guys saved me from drugs, and Olivia and this baby helped save me from myself, and this early journey out of recovery,” Mulaney said. “Yeah. I don’t have a joke for that.”
The couple was first rumored to be dating in May, shortly after Mulaney and his wife of six years had split.
Olivia and John’s romance was first rumoured after the duo were spotted hanging out together following the comedian’s separation from his wife Anna Marie Tendler. The former Saturday Night Live writer has been open about his struggle with addiction and relapsed last year after over a decade of sobriety.
