Singer Rihanna named ‘National Hero’

The title “National Hero” goes to Rihanna for her dedication to the culture, tourism , and education of the island nation of Barbados .

Recently, singer Rihanna was awarded the title of “National Hero” of Barbados, as the country celebrates its transition to an independent republic.

“May you continue to shine like a diamond”, Prime Minister Mia Mottley said during the ceremony knighted for singer music pop, the icon of fashion and successful businessman. This compliment is believed to have something to do with her 2012 hit Diamonds .

Rihanna is 33 years old this year, she was born in Saint Michael and raised in the capital, Bridgetown. The singer became famous after American producer Evan Rogers discovered and recognized her talent. Rihanna’s 2007 single Umbrella established her as one of the biggest pop stars in the world. In 2008, the then prime minister of Barbados, David Thompson, announced the annual Rihanna Day .
