The Voice has announced that former Fifth Harmony member Cabello will take over the role of Clarkson for the upcoming season. She joins Shelton, John Legend and Gwen Stefani in the panel. While some fans were disappointed to see Clarkson leave after eight seasons, Cabello has proven himself to be a fearless and consistent coach for Shelton.
Clarkson, who has spent the summer with his children, recently gave Cabello a stamp of approval.
“I think she would just excel in that situation,” Clarkson told Entertainment Tonight. “I think she’s very comfortable in her skin and I think that’s what it takes to be a coach and to be able to coach people. You have to feel comfortable first.”
Camila will join Blake Shelton, John Legend and Gwen Stefani in red ol’ swing chairs this season. Of course, this isn’t the first time Camila has entered reality TV singing contests – as the 25-year-old first got her start on The X Factor a decade ago.
Camila explains how she’s learned “neuropsychological tricks” to make singing highly profitable, going on, “[I have] these little tips and tricks that don’t just come from the competition but from the competition. my whole vibe, my whole 10 years of vibes.”
Talking about her 10-year vibe, Camila also revealed in a recent interview that she actually auditioned for The Voice that day. It’s unclear what happened after the audition, but she said of her decision to join The X Factor, “I wanted to meet One Direction because I love Harry Styles.”
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Shelton briefly teased what it felt like to have Cabello on set. The “No Body” singer revealed that Clarkson and Cabello have one thing in common: a talkative nature.
“Have you met Camila yet? She has a lot to say, that girl,” Shelton said. “I mean, she talks a lot. Kelly wasn’t in this season, but [Camila] made up for it. Camila has a lot to say.”
Apparently, Shelton had devised a way to counter Cabello’s wordy speeches. Fallon aired a hilarious clip from The Voice season 22 showing Shelton pressing the mute button on his chair to mute Cabello’s microphone.
“Can you hear her? Can’t you hear her? I know because my mute button actually works, right? ‘ Shelton joked. “It’s part of my contract.”
